What Is Offered?
The service is provided by Thunder Bay Counselling Centre and Children’s Centre Thunder Bay. The counselors provide a single session counselling session to children, youth, adults, couples and families on a first come, first served basis. No appointment is necessary –just walk in.
The counselors at our clinic have expertise in a variety of areas and we are able to work with a variety of issues such as: abuse, grief, family conflict, depression and anxiety, substance use, parenting, relationship issues, separation and divorce, stress, school and work problems, just to name a few.
How Will This Service Help?
When you come to the Walk-In Counselling Clinic, you will be asked to answer a few questions so we know why you have come and which professional counselor will work best with you. The counselor will meet with you and will talk with you about the problem that has brought you to the clinic. Once the counselor has the information, he/she will meet with a team to review the information and to develop recommendations that may help you to know how to begin to deal with your concerns.
More specifically, this service can help by
- reducing your stress,
- improving your coping,
- improving your understanding about what the problem is,
- giving you some resources or ideas about what you can do
- supporting your decision making.
