Family Mediation Services

Who Can Use This Service?

This service is for individuals who may be struggling with life's difficult transitions such as separation, divorce, parent/teen relationships, adult/children and aging parent issues.

In particular it is helpful for couples who are experiencing separation or divorce yet want to retain control over the decisions that affect their lives and do not want their children to be caught in the middle.

A $500 retainer fee is charged at the beginning of service. The cost of this service is $150.00 per hour.

What Is Offered?

This service provides a Certified Family Mediator who aims to help individuals and families address their current difficulties. The mediation process is a constructive, non-adversarial and solution-focused way to resolve family issues. In particular, separation and divorce are among the most painful and disruptive events that an individual and family can experience. The mediation process helps couples work towards creating their own settlement and learning techniques for resolving future differences. It can also help in developing a parenting plan that keeps the interest of children at the forefront.

Parenting Plan Coordination:

This service may also be used to monitor compliance and help resolve disputes with existing parenting plans and/or court ordered separation/divorce agreements, as they arise. A Parent Coordinator does not have the authority to change custody or a court order related to access. However, this process can help resolve conflicts related to parenting issues raised by either party.

How Will This Service Help?

Through the assistance of a professionally trained impartial third party, Family Mediation will provide the opportunity for family members to identify and address unresolved conflicts that can often get in the way of negotiating successful outcomes. It is a very time efficient and cost effective process. Family Mediation can benefit family members who are involved in conflict in several ways as it allows them to determine what the issues are what they want to mediate. It often fosters a sense of cooperation between family members rather than an adversarial atmosphere. This can be especially important if there are children involved. Family Mediation can assist family members to work out an agreement or solution that is creative and meets the unique needs of their family and children.
