Infant Development Program

Who Can Use This Service?

Children, age birth to six, and their families are eligible for services if they have developmental disabilities or who are at risk for developmental delays, psychosocial problems or who present with significant social and behavioural challenges.

How Can This Service Help?

The focus of this service is to support parents and community in maximizing the identified child’s development through collaborative goal setting, parenting education, coordination of services and parental support.

It is hoped that through understanding the child’s developmental needs and strengthening the adults capacity to respond to these needs that children will be able to develop and in tern function more effectively at home and in the child care/school setting.

How Can You Find Out More Or Access This Service?

For high risk infants this program may be accessed directly through the Hospital, District Health Unit or other community agencies.

Parents are able to enquire about making a referral by calling 343-5000 and speaking to intake services.
