Children’s Centre Thunder Bay provides Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), which is a series of evidenced-based group parenting programs for parents and caregivers of children/youth between the ages of 4 and 16. It aims to build positive behaviours in children/youth and confidence in parents’ abilities, while providing families with relevant community support. This is achieved through promoting the foundational components of the parent/child relationship.
Triple P has been tested with thousands of families around the world for more than 30 years. It is a program that has been proven to be effective in improving a child/youth’s behavioural issues, and instilling confidence in parents, helping them to feel less stressed, less angry, and less depressed. It is also designed to prevent future problems by promoting positive family relationships.
Triple P is offered in the following formats, based on the child’s age or family’s need:
Triple P Standard: for parents of children between age 4 and 8.
Teen Triple P: for parents of children between age 9 and 18.
Pathways: a specialized parenting program using Triple P strategies to provide skills and support to parents in managing their child's behaviour as well as their own anger.
